FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROSEVILLE – Caltrans is now scheduled to close the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp at Atlantic Street overnight next week for construction activities.

Thursday, March 25 and Friday, March 26, the westbound I-80 on-ramp is set to be closed between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m for concrete barrier installation along the shoulders, also known as k-rail. The ramp was previously scheduled to be closed overnight March 18 and 19, with work postponed due to weather.

During the overnight ramp closure, westbound I-80 motorists will be detoured along Harding Boulevard or North Sunrise Avenue to Douglas Boulevard. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.

The $12 million project is expanding the width of the existing single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road/Interstate 80 westbound onā€ramp to include three lanes and replacing the existing Miner’s Ravine Bridge to support the newly widened roadway. The project will reduce significant traffic backup and improve operations on local streets and intersections.

For the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians, a portion of the nearby Miner’s Ravine Multi-Use Trail will be closed for construction activities between March and October. A bicycle and pedestrian detour on local streets will be available during the trail closure.

Caltrans reminds motorists to Be Work Zone Alert and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
