Sacramento County — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to alternately close the #1 (left) and #2 (right) lanes on northbound and southbound State Route 99 from Dillard Road Overcrossing to Grant Line Overcrossing for pavement work and striping.
Work is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9 through Sunday, April 12.
Motorists should expect delays and use Interstate 5 as an alternate route.
Weather conditions could delay or cancel scheduled work.
The work is part of the SAC 99 Cosumnes River Bridge Replacement Project. Originally the work was scheduled from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday, April 5 through Saturday, April 11 but due to low traffic volumes and the Stay-at-Home order, crews are rescheduling the work for earlier in the evening.
During the week of April 12, crews are also scheduled to remove the guardrail and install k-rail on both sides of traffic.
The $158 million SAC 99 Cosumnes River Bridge Replacement begins south of Dillard Road Overcrossing to south of Grant Line Road (south of the city of Elk Grove), and will replace the Cosumnes River bridges and the Cosumnes River Overflow bridges with two new bridge structures. The project includes $18 million in funding thanks to Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) and is expected to be completed by Spring 2023. For more information about the project visit here.
The speed limit for this area has been reduced to 55 mph. Caltrans advices motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert”; someone’s loved one is at work.
