FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sacramento County — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to close State Route 160 from 1st Avenue to Leary Road for bridge work and highway construction activities.

Work is scheduled to resume Monday, March 23 through Sunday, March 29 from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Weather conditions could delay or cancel scheduled work.

Work was scheduled to begin March 16-21 but crews were not able to close the state route until March 18 due to weather conditions. The work is part of the SAC 5 Corridor Enhancement Project.

The $370 million project was awarded to Nor Cal Paving Teichert/ Granite, and construction began in late July 2019. SAC 5 Corridor Enhancement Project extends from about one mile south of Elk Grove Boulevard Overcrossing to the American River Bridge, and will rehabilitate pavement, construct new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, replace a pedestrian overcrossing, construct sound walls, install new fiber optic lines, new ramp meters and extend various entrance and exit ramps. Funding includes $48.3 million from SB 1. The project is expected to be completed by December 2022. For more information about the project visit here.
