Southbound I-5 Through Downtown San Diego Reduced to One Lane Tonight, 8/29

SAN DIEGO —Maintenance crews will close southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) to one lane from the Pacific Highway on-ramp to the Park Boulevard overcrossing tonight, starting at 8 p.m. for bridge work.

Crews will close the right three lanes at 8 p.m., then at 10 p.m., crews will take an additional lane. By 10 p.m., all motorists will be detoured to the number one lane (fast lane). The 8 p.m. closures include the southbound I-5 Pacific Highway, 1st Avenue, and 5th Avenue on-ramps. All lanes and ramps will reopen at 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.

The work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related reasons.
