SAN DIEGO —Caltrans construction crews will close a series of on- and off-ramps in the City of El Cajon Wednesday night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for lane striping and K-rail alignment.

The affected ramps include:

  • Eastbound La Mesa Boulevard/Grossmont Center Drive on-ramp.
  • Eastbound Severin Drive/Fuerte Drive on-ramp.
  • Eastbound El Cajon Boulevard off-ramp.

In addition, two right lanes on eastbound Interstate I-8 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and two right lanes on westbound I-8 from Marshall Avenue to Grossmont Boulevard will also close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. There will be no full freeway closure.

Also, two right lanes of northbound State Route 125 (SR-125) to eastbound I-8 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Residents in the area may hear the truck and beeping from construction vehicles. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration established standards for using backup alarms on construction vehicles and material handling equipment because of the widespread danger posed to people on the site.

Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related reasons.
