Stockton — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) participated in a ceremony to dedicate State Route 4 (Crosstown Freeway) between Interstate 5 and State Route 99 for fallen Stockton Police Department Officer Jimmy Arty Inn on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Stockton Police Department.

Officer Inn, a six-year veteran of the department, was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic Jimmy Arty Inn Memorial Highway violence call on May 11, 2021.

Caltrans District 10 Maintenance unveiled and installed the memorial sign that reads, “Officer Jimmy Arty Inn Memorial Highway.”

Caltrans District 10’s Deputy Director of Planning and Local Assistance Marlon Regisford addressed the gathering, as well as representatives from the Stockton Police Department, the Stockton Police Officers’ Association, Assembly member Carlos Villapudua (13th District), and Stockton Police Department Officer Tela Inn, Officer Inn’s widow.

“While this highway dedication will forever memorialize Officer Inn for his significant service,” said Regisford, “may it also serve as a reminder of all those in law enforcement who risk their lives each day to protect us, including those serving with the Stockton Police Department, San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol.”

Officer Inn touched countless members of the community. Hundreds lined the streets along the funeral procession, and the Stockton community and others around the world showed their support through prayers, gifts, and donations.

Officer Inn was 30 years old and is survived by his wife and three children.
