Caltrans "News Flash" Shines Spotlight on Highway Litter

WEST SACRAMENTO – Caltrans is serious about keeping California's highways clean, having spent $76 million last year alone to remove 153,000 cubic yards of litter, trash and debris from our state highways.

In this Caltrans News Flash, you'll see Caltrans executives getting in the spirit for Litter Day, an annual event held April 21 in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup and Earth Day, as they pick up trash along State Route 99 in Sacramento. And they also talk about what motorists can do to help.
