California Department of Transportation

System Planning & System Support

System Planning and System Support are responsible for the guidance and monitoring of key documents. Within the System Planning Branch are Route Concept Reports and Transportation Corridor Reports, Transportation System Development Programs, and District System Management Plans. With statewide guidance, these district prepared documents together form the basis of long-range analysis and planning for improvement to the state highway system, major transportation corridors and connectivity to other modal transportation facilities. In addition, the Interregional Transportation Strategic Plan (ITSP) is prepared in this branch. It describes and communicates the framework in which the state will carry out its responsibilities for the Interregional Improvement Program (IIP).
