Office of Rail Project Management

The Office of Rail Project Management fosters project management principles throughout the Division and establishes construction contract standards of practice in the administration of projects from inception through completion.  Serving as the specialist for engineering issues on behalf of the Division, this office provides technical support for the design and construction of rail station projects, maintenance facilities and highway/railroad structures.  

 Specific activities include:

  • Program management of intercity rail projects and highway/railroad crossing projects
  • Facilitation of project management principles
  • Project management training
  • Management of project scope, cost, schedule and resources
  • Guidance regarding project charging practices
  • Technical support for rail station projects
  • Working with local agencies on rail construction projects
  • Technical oversight of consultant and local agency engineering work
  • Developing project work plans as lead of the Project Development Team
  • Negotiating resource agreements with functional managers
