SB 1118, Senator Negrete McLeod-Chino, District 32 (Airports: airport land use commissions) This bill would delete some sections of airport land use law leaving fewer ways for counties to establish an airport land use commission (ALUC). Some counties would be required to establish a new, so-called single-entity airport land use commission or designate an established countywide body for airport planning responsibilities. No county would be exempt from the airport land use requirements. The latest - 04/02/2008-Passed as amended, and re-refer to the Committee on Appropriations.

SB 1141, Senator Bob Margett-Glendora, District 29 (Emergency Medical Services) This bill would add a section to the Health and Safety Code which would allow the use of public aircraft for rescue services. The latest - 04/01/2008-First hearing canceled at the request of author.

SB 1462,

 Senator Abel Maldonado Jr.-Santa Maria, District 15 (Navigable waters: Seaplanes)

This bill calls for the establishment of requirements for the landing, docking, and takeoff of a seaplane on the navigable waterways of the state.

The latest - 03/25/2008-Withdrawn from Natural Resources and Water Committee. Referred to Rules Committee for reassignment.

SB 1510, Senator Christine Kehoe-San Diego, District 39 (San Diego County Regional Airport Authority) In the wake of the airport authority's overhaul from the passage of SB 10 (Kehoe) last year, minor changes to the selection, wages and benefits of its board of directors are proposed. Minor changes to rental car facility charges and unclaimed property are also in the bill. The latest - 04/02/2008-From committee: Do pass. (Ayes 5. Noes 0.)

SB 1577, Senator Dean Florez-Shafter, District 16 (Air carrier airport surrendered items donation programs) Various unopened and unused toiletry items that are routinely confiscated at airports could be diverted to organizations who are qualified to redistribute toiletries to needy persons. Airport operators would be required to post signs with directions to on-airport collection receptacles. The latest - 04/01/2008-Set, first hearing. Hearing canceled at the request of author. Set for hearing April 8.

AB 1943, Assemblyman Mark Leno-San Francisco, District 13 (Commercial airlines: passenger rights) Airline passengers stranded in an airplane on the ground for more than three hours will have their plane serviced with electrical power, restroom services, and adequate refreshments by the air carrier according to this bill. The air carrier must also post information in airports to facilitate consumer complaints to air carriers and US DOT. The latest - 04/02/2008-From committee chair, with author's amendments: Amend, and re-refer to Committee on Judiciary. The following bills were introduced to the Legislature in 2007 but have seen no significant movement since last year:

AB 700, Assembly Member Lieu-Torrance, District 53 (Co-Author: Assembly Member Brownley), (Santa Monica Airport) The City of Santa Monica will establish a committee to review studies and data regarding the airport in Santa Monica and then send a report to the FAA and the Legislature. The report will offer suggestions to reduce air quality impacts from operations at Santa Monica airport. The bill calls for many elected officials and stakeholders to participate on the committee which will meet at least four times a year. The committee may also recommend more studies to the Legislature. This bill was amended five times. Last amended on 8/23/2007. The Latest - Still an active bill but progress suspended as the Legislature went to recess on 9/14/07.

AB 916, Assembly Member Niello-Fair Oaks, District 5, (public contracts: alternative procurement procedure: County of Sacramento) This bill would authorize an alternative method of procurement for airport-related construction projects in Sacramento County subject to the Board of Supervisors. This bill has been amended seven times. Last amended on 8/20/07. The Latest - 9/11/07; To inactive file on author's motion.

H.R. 204, 110th Congress, 1st Session, in the House of Representatives, Rep. Steven R. Rothman, NJ-9, January 4, 2007. A federal bill to require the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct a feasibility study for applying airport "bubbles" as a method of identifying, assessing, and reducing the adverse environmental impacts of airport ground and flight operations and improving the overall quality of the environment, and for other purposes.

H.R. 2872, 110th Congress, 1st Session, in the House of Representatives, Rep. Maxine Waters, CA-35, June 26, 2007. This bill is called the LAX Community Safety Act and would prevent the northernmost of LAX's four runways from being relocated further north as has been proposed by the airport's operator, Los Angeles World Airports.
