Airport Permitting

As a general rule, it is unlawful to operate an airport in the State of California without a State Airport Permit. State Airport Permit requirements are promulgated in the California Public Utilities Code (PUC), Section 21001 et seq., otherwise known as the State Aeronautics Act, and the California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 21, Sections 3525-3560, Airports and Heliports. This page is intended to provide permitting guidelines, exemptions, and the procedures necessary to obtain and maintain a State Airport Permit for an airport in California.
