AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT PROJECT COMPLETE IN SIERRA COUNTY
Loyalton – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project near the Sierra County town of Loyalton is now complete. This $750,000 project improved the roadway for 16.6 miles between Highway 89 and the Sierra/Plumas county line.
California currently leads the nation with $1.9 billion in federal economic stimulus funding committed to 526 projects on the state's highways and local streets. Of these, 135 projects worth $1.1 billion have already been awarded contracts to begin work, with an additional $722 million in federal stimulus funds expected to be awarded to 112 projects by the end of October.
