CALTRANS HOLDS STATEWIDE
DIVERSITY AND DISABILITY AWARENESS EVENT
Sacramento – Caltrans today held a Diversity and Disability Awareness event to celebrate diversity within Caltrans and increase awareness of issues faced by and opportunities available for the disabled. Similar events are being held in all 12 Caltrans districts across the state throughout the month.
“Caltrans values cultural differences and ensures equal opportunities for the disabled,” said Director Will Kempton. “We see diversity as a strength of our organization.”
More than 10 government agencies, nonprofit organizations and private businesses provided information on employment, housing, health, education and technology, civil rights, and a wide range of other important issues for the disabled.
More than 16 cultures were represented at today’s event, and more than 1,000 people attended the event. Each culture celebrated diversity through food, art, dance and song.
