CALTRANS TO CUT RIBBON ON AMTRAK “QUIK-TRAK” TICKET KIOSK
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today they will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of the first of a series of new Amtrak Quik-Trak ticket kiosks.
"This state-of-the-art ticket kiosk is the first one to be installed at a non-Amtrak facility west of the Mississippi,” said Caltrans Director Will Kempton. "This is an added convenience to encourage people to take Amtrak. Traveling on Amtrak is a relaxing way to travel and beat the traffic. You can stretch out, work on your laptop and even read the newspaper.”
The “Quik-Trak” kiosk:
- Will be installed at 35 stations along the three state supported Amtrak train routes by fall of 2007.
- Won an excellence award during the 2007 Self Service Exposition.
(See http://www.selfserviceworld.com/article_printable.php?id=17841&page=14) - Features a security camera, barcode and credit card reader, two printers and an encrypted PIN pad.
The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 27 and will be held at the Caltrans Headquarters Building, 1120 N Street (O Street entrance). Scheduled to speak at the event are Will Kempton, Director, Caltrans; Dr. Beverly Scott, General Manager, Sacramento Regional Transit; Jonathan Hutchison, Director of Government Affairs, West, Amtrak; and David Kutrosky, Deputy Director of Finance and Planning, Capitol Corridor.
