Subject:	Coastal Commission Involvement

The Coastal Commission has expressed interest in being included early in the project development process. For projects within the coastal zone, the Coastal Commission and the appropriate local agency responsible for issuing the coastal development permits shall be formally invited to participate on the Project Development Team (PDT).

Both the invitation and the outcome of that invitation shall be included in the project files. As a reminder, minutes of all PDT meetings should be prepared and placed in the project file to document decisions.

It is hoped that by including a Coastal Commission representative on the PDT, Caltrans will get the needed input at the front end of the process.
