Roadway Maintenance

The Maintenance of Pavements is managed as two distinctive programs, rehabilitation and maintenance. Pavement rehabilitation improves the facility and is designed to provide an additional ten years of service life. Maintenance activities keep the facility safe and serviceable until rehabilitation is needed. Pavement Maintenance activities include: routine maintenance (day to day maintenance of roadway), major maintenance (planned work which generally is done by contract) and preventive maintenance (treatments applied when pavement distress is minimal, to extend the pavement life).
