THIS PROJECT IS NEEDED TO ADDRESS TWO MAJOR OPERATIONAL DEFICIENCIES: NONSTANDARD BRIDGE GEOMETRY AND FAILURE TO MEET CURRENT SEISMIC RETROFIT STANDARDS. IN PARTICULAR, THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE SHOULDERS OF THE BRIDGES ARE NON STANDARD WIDTHS AND THE BRIDGE FOUNDATIONS REST ON SOILS WHOSE LIQUEFACTION SUSCEPTIBILITY IS CHARACTERIZED AS HIGH.
