Response #2:Per the CE/CE, no work, including equipment storage, is to occur ouside the paved area of the Truck Inspection Facility. ESA fencing is to be placed around the paved area of the facility so as to not allow persons or equipment to cross or use the land beyond the fencing. Employee parking and equipment/material storage, within the paved area, is to be determined by the Engineer and as coordinated with the CHP.

Inquiry #3: The PMF Wall Systems on sheet A0-5.2 are noted to contain insulated glass.However, the details referenced on A-15 show monolithic glazing. Please advise if these frames are to be bid with insulated glass or not.

Inquiry #6: Sun Screens per. Detail 1,2/A-5 shows 6" Airfoil Blade.However Sun Screen Roof plan A/A-5 calls for Sun Screen @ two (2) locations only. At grid line 4 between lines G&L and also between lines A&C. The steel frame covers all exposed roof area, are the Sun Screens to be at these two (@) locations only? or over all the steel frame with the center section left with out Sun Screen over the center run from line A-J with this area left open for the skylights?

Inquiry #12: Please clarify the backerboard required behind wall tile. Details 9 and 10/A-14 show no backerboard behind tile. While 7/A-15 shows cementitious backerboard. Spec section 12-9.02 indicates cementitious backerboard will be used as a wall substrate. However, section 12-9.01 states that the substate will be either cementitious backerboard or mold/mildew/moisture resistant gypsum board. Please clarify how the substrate behind tile should be bid. Thank you.

Detail 9 and 10/ A-14 designate no backerboard behind wall tile.

Detail 7/ A-15 designates cementitious backer board behind wall tile. Refer to section 12-9.02 "Ceramic Tile" of the special provisions for cementitious tile backer board material.

Section 12-9.01 "Gypsum Wallboard" specifies wallboard backing used in restroom and shower areas "to be resistant to mold, mildew, and moisture or shall be cementitious backer panels".

Inquiry #13: On Sheet A-1.1, between F & G, an 18" concrete pipe is shown with dashed lines. Is this an existing pipe or is this to be bid as part of the contract? Please note that this pipe is not shown on any of the mechanical or civil plans.

Inquiry #14: The Foundation Recommendation (Soils Report) indicates that subexcavation and recompaction may be required if man made objects or pockets of loose material are enountered during footing excavation. Section 12-2.05 indicates under "structure excavation" that at locations and limits shown on plans, the material under the footings shall be removed and replaced with select backfill. As no such locations have been found in the plans, please confirm for bidding purposes that overexcavation of the foundation will only be needed in the event it is required due to unforeseen soil conditions.

Inquiry #15: Please confirm that Section 8-3 "Welding" shall be applicable to all structural steel and joist welding. This section requires the general contractor to hire a Certified Welding Inspector and QCM to perform continuous field inspection and reporting at all times welding is being performed.
