Inquiry #1: In looking at the plan cover sheet it depicts the area of work in bold black, the bold black shows the intersections being part of the grind/overlay work. However the typ. cross section dimensions and construction details don't show and/or allow for any work on the intersections or turn lanes, it only shows the # 1 and # 2 lanes being cold planed and paved back. Is this correct? Also the typical detail shows cold plane and pave back .08 with no limit, so I would have to guess edge of pavement to edge of pavement. If this is the case then the finish surface of the overlay would be the same elevation of the existing roadway after the .08' cold plane and pave back but the cross shows the .08' overlay going all the way to the edge of pavement on the shoulder and being on top of the existing surface with shoulder backing, this doesn't make sense. Is this typical drawing wrong? what are the limits for cold plane and RHMA overlay?

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.

Response #2:The typical cross sections include the intersections in the 48 foot width shown. The typical cross sections are correct. The cold plane will be in the traveled way and the overlay is from edge of pavement to edge of pavement.
