Inquiry #4: Referencing Plan Page E-77 and E-78, please clarify what size(s) are the Fiber Optic Pull Boxes?

Please consider that, once Caltrans has answered this question, the electrical companies will need to contact the manufacturers with your specific fiber optic pull box size info to obtain pricing for this bid.

We request Caltrans postpone the bid date to provide time for prime contractors to forward Caltrans' fiber optic pull box size information to the manufacturers.

Inquiry #5: Plan sheet #134 details the Fiber Optic Vault. The plan sheet has no scale and there are no vault sizes provided. We cannot obtain pricing from our suppliers with incomplete details. Please provide revised plan sheets indicating the sizes of the vaults, racks and anything else to complete the vault details so we can obtain pricing. THANK YOU!

Inquiry #6: Plan sheet #133 details the Fiber optic pull box.The details lack any dimensions indicating what size the boxes are (W X L X D). Please provide the missing info to complete the details so we can obtain pricing on the subject material. THANK YOU!

Inquiry #7: Plan sheet #73 indicates that a conduit notes 30 & 73 crosses the freeway.The conduit stops at station 115 with a break point and picks back up on the other side of the freeway. Note 30 indicates that this is a trench in pavement install.I find it hard to believe that Caltrans intends to allow a trench in pavement install across Route 101. Please correct this plan sheet and re-issue. THANK YOU!

Inquiry #8: Plan sheet #71 station 235+30 to 238+00 indicates that a conduit is to be installed on the existing structure per SES-6 SHEET #165.Plan sheet #71 depicts two #8 structure mounted pull boxes be installed as well. We would request that the department provide transitional details detailing the transitions at each end from surface mounted conduit to underground conduit.Also please indicate rather expansion or deflection or expansion/deflection combo fittings will be installed. Inquiry #9: We also would like to request an extension or postponement of this bid. There are too many other projects next week to adequately bid this project. We believe a postponement of this bid will allow more contractors to bid this project and potentially save the State of California thousands of dollars.

Inquiry #10: We request a bid date extension for this project. There are too many projects bidding on this date. In addition there are questions pending that have not been answered which will cause delay's in getting comprehensive pricing, most specifically for the fiber optic boxes/vaults. Thank you.

Inquiry #11: We request an extension to the bid date for this project untial after the first of the year. With 21 separate traffic signal locations that I am REQUIRED BY THE SPECIFICATIONS TO VISIT, more time is needed to properly prepare a detailed estimate.
