Inquiry #1: RE Bid item 55, Code 477020, Mechanically stabilized embankement.

Ref SP Sx10-1.26 Earth Retaining Structures -

The table of proprietary Earth Retaiing Systems in Sx 10-1.26 contains both metallic reinforced panel systems as well as segmental wall systems. However, the Landmark System is not represtented in the table. Landmark is a Caltrans Pre Approved alternative earth retaining wall system which can be constructed at either a 4 degree batter or vertical. It has also been used in TRinity County on Caltrans Project No 02-3C0804. It consists of modular blocks with geogrid soil reinforcements and has an offset split face texture. Please modify the table in Section 10-1.26 to include the Landmark Retaining Wall System as a preapproved proprietary wall system.

Inquiry #2: Page 59 of the speial provisions reguarding the "unanticipated discovery of asbestos and hazardous material" refers to compliance with section 14-11-.02 of the standard specification. There is no section 14 in the 2006 standard specifications.

is it the intent of the special provisions that the WPC manager meet the hazardous waste training requirements prior to submitting the SWPPP?

How will the "unanticipated discovery of asbestos and hazardous material" be paid?

will the contractor be allowed to make a substitution or provide and alternate WPC manager if hazardous materials are found?
