Inquiry #25: On the project plans sheet No. 791, (Sound Wall No. 313" on barrier on retaining wall Detail), the page gives details in regards to the masonry wall reinforcement table and wall section. The question I have is in regards to the compressive strength of the CMU to be used.

Per this table at the top of the page, the entire wall 33,800 SQFT. + is to be "ALL" HIGHSTRESS CMU. Is this correct or can the updated 2010 standard plate, RSP B-15, dated 10-19-12 be used in lieu of sheet No. 791.

Per the RSP-B15 plate, which is exact, word for word, including reinforcing, with the exception of modified section. It states that a maximum amount of 11'-4" of Regular Strength CMU maybe used and any additional amount in height will have to be HIGH STRESS. There quite a big difference from using ALL HIGHSTRESS vs. 2'-0" H.S. for the wall. Can this plate be used for Soundwall No. 313?

Response #1:Refer to Section 5-1.02, "Contract Components," of the Standard Specifications.

Inquiry #27: In addition to Inquiry #25. Sound wall No. 314, with sheet number 846, also has the same criteria in regards to High stress CMU question. If it were per plan, for both walls, 313 & 314, all 58,330 SQFT of CMU would have to be highstress, unless the updated RSP-B15 plate can be used. Please clarify.

Inquiry #29: Ref Bridge Deck Drain Sys Item 253: The qty in the bid book appears to be only the weight for the deck drains. Bid book item 253 = 1740 lbs & 12 deck drains D-1 = 1620+- lbs. There are not any details for the pipe on the bridge plans. Bridge plans page 647 note (1) says to see the road plans. Plan page 127 - DS 57 says to see the structure plans. It appears the bridge deck drain pipe has been left out. The pipe will likely start out as 6" dia. but because of the length of the runs it will change to 8" or larger. Details are needed.
Inquiry submitted 12/03/2013

Response #1:Refer to Addendum No.2 dated December 5, 2013 and Addendum No.3 dated December 20, 2013. Plans 616/985, 617/985, 619/985, 639/985 and 647/985 have been modified.

I don't think the Standard detail at an abutment applies since the drawing shows the terminus at the centerline of the abutmensts. . . Please assist me in finding the information or provide the information.

Inquiry #31: Per Addendum No. 2 and sheet Nos. 699, 734, 781 & 834 the aesthetic details for the CMU sound walls were changed. The new details added a 10"x4"x16" cap to the top of the walls. The only problem is that also affects the "H" noted in the plans.

The CMU heights for the sound walls are 11'-4" and 13'-4", but by using a 4" high unit now, the modular height is now off by 4". The sound wall's "H" either needs to be increased or decreased by 4" to fit the rest of the wall to an 8" modular block standard.

Since Item No. 225 is final pay, the quantity / SQFT. also needs to be adjusted.

In addition, these are shown as existing on Sheets U-1 through U-7. (For example, PP1062886E, PP1062887E, PP1062888E)

Should we assume utilities that are shown to be relocated but not listed on the 5-1.36D table would be relocated prior to construction start on 5/12/2014?
