Inquiry #4: Please clarify bid item #49 - Reset Temporary Railing (Type K) Does this item only include the resetting of the rail to the shoulder as shown on TH 19-22 for the winter shut down, or does it also include the resetting after the winter shut down, back to where it was?

Response #3:Item for Resetting the k-rail for winter shutdown is a two way reset. It requires moving the K-rail (during the winter season) away from where originally were placed, and then resetting them back to their original location.

Inquiry #5: Takeoff shows a large under-run for item 104. Using the areas given on sheet 193 for the slope paving and the thickness given on sheet 43 gives a large under-run as well. Will Caltrans issue an addendum to change the bid quantity?

Inquiry #6: Bid item #66 has the quantity of 230 cy for ATPB. The table on Q-1 shows 126 cy on Mainline (which is correct) and 102 cy on Watsonville Rd, but the typical section on sheet X-15 for Watsonville Road does not show ATPB. Please correct.

Inquiry #7: ITEM #115, CONCRETE BARRIER, TYPE 60C MODIFIED:
Plan sheet 42, C-6,details the 60C Mod. as 36 inches both above and below offset road surface, and also as "varies". Which is correct? If the answer is "varies", please provide cross sections or details giving the varying offset dimensions.
Plan Typical Cross Section sheets 3-12, X-2 to X-12, show the CB60C MOD. on structural section totally above the offset road surface.
What is the correct detail and dimensioning?

Response #2:Section 12-3.16A GENERAL, paragraphs 1 and 2 describes the bid item related to Temporary Signal Systems. Temporary Chain link fence and gates are included in the description of this bid item.

Contractor should also take note of Section 9-1.03 Payment Scope in the Standard Specifications as it relates to this item.

Inquiry #14: Sheet 416G shows a bearing pad and polystyrene on top of each of the soldier piles. Is there a plate that is welded to the tops of the piles to support these similar to other projects? Please provide the detail as to how the bearing pad and polystyrene is supported.

1) Is there a reason the drawing uses Imperial dimensions and the Special Conditions refer to the metric version of F 738?
2) Do these Safety hooks occur in any locations other than Soil Nail Walls 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11? My weight differs from the bid item estimate substantially and I am wondering if my count is incorrect.

Inquiry #16: Items 117, 118, 119, and 120 on the bid items list calls for the installation of the Thermoplastic with no indication it is to be Wet/Night Enhanced. However in the Special Provisions, Sec 84-601 it gives the standard for Wet/Night Enhanced. Is it Caltrans' intent to install the thermoplastic delineation at the Wet/Night Enhanced Spec?

Inquiry #17: In addendum 3 on page 32 of 44 it seems to state that Natina will be applied at an enclosed shop and also asks for a paint cert of some kind. We are the manufacturer of this product and it is never applied in an enclosed shop and is typically applied by us (not a painting contractor), outdoors, at our facility. I don't want bids to be rejected because they do not include a bid to do this work at an enclosed shop by a painting contractor. please advise.

Response #2:Section 59-2 is related to PAINTING STRUCTURAL STEEL while Section 59-11 is related to STAINING GALVANIZED SURFACES.

Section 59-11.02 of Addendum 3 was related to the updated cost information of the Natina Staining.

Response #3:Section 59-9 is specification requirements for painting steel soldier piles. Section 59-11 is specification requirements for staining galvanized surfaces (Natina). In Addendum No. 3, Section 59-9.01 only applies to painting steel soldier piles.
