UCP Data Files Download Help

Please Read this Before Downloading the UCP Data Extract

If you want to search for a UCP Certified DBE, SMBE or SWBE firm, and you are not familiar with importing data files and linking them with a relational database application, it may be much easier for you to use the on-line Search Form instead. Use the link at the right to a page that links to the Search Form.

Instructions on downloading all our self-extracting, zipped files, key field names, and hints. To download a free evaluation version of WinZip Self-Extractor by Nico Mak Computing, Inc.

UCP Data Extract-The file ucpcert.zip contains 6 compressed files which are about 731kb in size, and about 7MB when uncompressed, providing Caltrans current information on certified firms. This file is updated daily.

Notice of Change to the UCP Data Extract:

The CALBE file has been modified to include Firm Email Address. Also, a new file "WORK CODE" has been added to the download files. This files identifies codes that identify the type of work the firm performs. Work codes are currently being added for all firms. Every firm may not have work codes identified at this time.

Note: Disabled Veteran (DVBE) data is no longer contained in the UCPCERT.ZIP file due to a change in legislation. DVBE data can be found on the Department of General Services website. If you have any questions please contact Darius C. Hudson.

Download Instructions
UCPCERT.ZIP IBM Compatible users, after the download expand the self-extracting, zipped file UCPCERT.ZIP using your method of choice. The file will expand to six files, five of which may be imported into a relational data base program (i.e., dBase III {or higher}, Excel, Access, Quatro Pro, etc.) related by the field 'firm_firm_sysid'. The file layout document in Excel will tell you where this field is located in each table.

For Mac users, a utility such as UnZip 2.0 (available in Shareware) or Stuffit Expander 3.5.2 is needed to extract the three files. Once files are expanded, import them into any relational database (Filemaker, Excel, Access etc.), and relate by 'firm_firm_sysid'.

When these files are in your database program and properly related, you may design your own queries.
