Project Name: Big Bear Lake Bridge Replacement Project
Brief Description: The project consists of constructing a new bridge on State Route 18 across Big Bear Creek to functionally replace the existing Big Bear Lake Bridge located along the top of Big Bear Dam. The bridge’s arched substructure is being utilized to avoid and minimize impacts to Waters of the U.S. In addition to the new bridge across the creek, the project would realign, widen and signalize the State Route 18 and 38 intersections and improve roadway drainage with new culverts and drainage structures. Temporary impacts to provide access to Bear Creek will result in 0.025 acres of impacts to riparian and 0.05 acres of impact to streambed. Restoration of temporarily impacted areas will include willow cuttings and other native species to offset temporary impacts.
