The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q) Who is the manufacturer of the above material and/or distributor (Staples, Twisted Wire Mesh, Wire Mesh, Slope Anchors, Metal Anchor Plate, and Wire Rope Restraint)?

A) Caltrans has confirmed that sources for these materials are readily available in the industry. We do not typically call out specific suppliers by name in our contracts unless there is a compelling reason to do so.

Q) Prebid meeting (Page 1 of special prov.) was on February 20, 2003. The project was not advertised until the end of April. Will bidders who did not attend the prebid be penalized for DVBE good faith efforts?

A) The pre-bid meeting was cancelled. Therefore, there are no consequences associated with pre-bid meeting nonattendance for this project.

Q) Will station numbers be provided to locate the work area (plan sheet 3)in comparison to Contract 09-288404 for grading work that appears to be in the same area as this project?

A) Caltrans will provide sufficient information in the field to more precisely delineate the limits of the work for this contract. Yes, contracts 9-288404 and 9-309504 address the same general area.

Q) Are the 60-90 days, calendar or working days?

A) The 60-90 days are calendar days.

Q) Will the watering containers be replaced during the winter (even if area is under snow)?

A) Replacement will not be required in the winter. Replacement will occur in the spring and/or fall.

Q) Will the K-Rail and Crash Cushions be required to be on the project during the construction period (30 wd) or the entire contract period (530 wd)?

A) The K-Rail & crash cushion will only be required for the construction phase of the project (30 wd).
