Q1) In looking at the region map the break between high desert and desert is within a couple of miles of the job. According to CPD 05-10 if the area was considered high desert the recommended binder grade would be PG 64-28. Is the use of 70-10 correct?

A1) The correct binder grade is PG64-28. Please refer to addendum #1 dated October 1, 2008.

Q2) If the binder grade is changed to PG 64-28 will PG 70-10 still be required for the asphalt dikes?

A2) Use PG64-28 Polymer Modified or PG 70-10 for asphalt dike.

Q3) In the Notice to Bidders, the telephone number (916) 654-4990 is for another state agency. Can the correct telephone number be provided to where the Bid Documents may be viewed.

A3) The correct Department.of Transportation Bid Documents contact telephone number is (916) 654-4490.

Q4) It would appear that there are going to be two jobs that build in the same area next year at the same time. Will there be any consideration given with regards to start dates or working days in order to ensure that both can be built be one contractor?

A4) There very likely will be overlap of construction for the two projects. Start dates are controlled by funding commitments and will likely not be (cannot be) modified extensively once the funding has been acquired.

Q5) If the hot mix does not meet the TSR spec untreated are we required to treat both the aggregate as well as the asphalt binder as shown in the contract or is this an "either or" situation? Please clarify your intent.

A5) This is an "either or situation". Lime slurry and liquid antistrip are not to be used concurrently.

Q6) Are cross-sections available and how can we get them?

Q7) Sheet 66, Drainage System 11 directs the contractor to Sheet DD-7(SEE DRAINAGE DETAIL SHEET DD-7). Where is Sheet DD-7? The plans go from DD-6 sheet 72 to DQ-1 sheet 73.

Q8) Item 61 Seal Random Cracks does not show a specification for application or materials

A8) This will be addressed by Contract Change Order during construction.

Q9) Pavement Delineation Quanitites shows 628.6m of Red-Curb - How do we get paid for this?

A9) Please refer to SSP 10-1.57 "Paint Curb" and Item Number 84 of the contract.
