Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.


Q1) Please confirm that contract number 06-483404 is not federally funded and thus does not follow the guidelines of "Buy America" (23 CFR 635.410) noted in section 6-1.085.

A1) 06-483404 is not a federally funded project and Amendment (add 6-1.085) to Standard Specifications section 6-1.08 does not apply. 30Apr10.


Q2) The specifications states “Test Report Certifying Compliance with ANSI B153.1”. This has been invalid for over 10 years and is no longer is use, the new replacement standard that OSHA and the State of California test to is called “ANSI/ALI ALCTV-1998. What shall we do in regards to the ANSI Standard B153.1 call-outs in the specifications?

A2) Please bid per the contract documents. Reference special provision 12-14.01, Part 1 General, sections "Submittals" and "Quality Assurance." Please note the following: "Submittals shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:... Test Report Certifying Compliance...." "The lift including all components necessary for operation shall be tested as a unit....." "All tests shall be performed by an independent testing laboratory recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) Recognition Program, Office of Variance Determination." Reference Standard Specification Section 6; compliance will be to current laws and regulations. 30Apr10.


Q3) Does the High Lift Tripod support stands also have to be certified to ANSI/ALI ALCTV-1998? The specifications do not mention any certifications but OSHA states that the stands must also be certified with the lift.

A3) Please bid per contract documents. Reference special provision 12-14.01, Part 1 General, "Quality Assurance." Q4) Will an electric hydraulic lift be acceptable in replace of a screw drive lift as long as it meets or exceeds the specifications?

Q5) Would a ConVault and Hoover Vault Above Ground Fuel Tank both be acceptable?

A5) Please reference Section 12-1.06 Submittals, of the contract special provisions in addition to 12-11.01 for the specific provisions to which the Above Ground Fuel Tank shall comply. This inquiry cannot be answered at this time, during advertisement. Bid per the current contract bid documents.


Q6) You are specifying a tank that is produced by only one manufacturer. I believe that this would be considered a proprietary specification. Will you accept other UL 2085 listed tanks?

A6) Reference Section 12-1.06 Submittals, of the contract special provisions in addition to 12-11.01 for the specific provisions to which the Above Ground Fuel Tank shall comply. This inquiry cannot be answered at this time, during advertisement. Bid per the current contract bid documents.


Q7) You are specifying tank mounted fuel dispensers. Are these suction pumps or submersible pumps? The Tokheim and Wayne submersible pumps that you specify are no longer manufactured. Would you give us a current pump product number?

A7) The referenced contract special provision, 12-11.01 includes the specifications to which the fuel dispensers shall comply. Bid per the current contract bid documents.
