Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q1) Will road cross sections, layouts, and profiles be provided to bidding planholders?

A1) No. Layouts, Profile, and X-sections will not be available for this project. 17Sept10.

Q2) Where can we purchase X-sections for this project?

A2) Please refer to A1 above. 4Oct10.

Q3) Contract Plan Sheet Number 3 (typical section for Southbound PM 2.8 – 3.2) shows “Geosynthetic Pavement Interlayer Class 2 AB”, but there is no depth of the CL2 AB indicated. Contract Plan Sheet Number 3 (same reference) calls out “Geosynthetic Pavement Interlayer”, but there is no HMAC pavement in this location. Contract Plan Sheet Number 16, “Roadway Quantities Summary” shows 5320 CY of Class 2 AB on an area of 8,000 SY. Again, no Class 2 depth is called out. Is the intent of the drawings as follows? 1. The area referenced (PM 2.8 – 3.2) is to receive 2’ of Class 2 AB beneath the JPCP/LCB/CL2AS for the entire area (two lanes plus 10’ shoulder). 2. The area is also to receive Geotextile beneath the aforementioned CL2AB.

A3) Please refer to Addendum No. 1 dated October 1, 2010. 7Oct10.

Q4) Roadway quantities summary, HMA & Cold Plane, There is a quanity shown for on/off ramps, the plans do not show any work on the ramps. Please clarify.

Q5) On X-1, What does the HMA dike sit on? It appears to sit just off the PCCP on native material. Please clarify.

Q6) The Specials do not address the geosynthetic pavement interlayer. Also please address the intent of the placement for the fabric and the depth of the Class 2 AB.

Q7) Q-1 shows 1135 tons of HMA and 12,000 sy of cold planning on the on/off ramps. The plans do not show this work. Please revise the plans to show this work.

A7) Sheet C-1 shows the typical work for all the ramps (totally 5 locations). 11Oct10.

Q8) The cross sections show a HMA dike to be installed. The pavement next to the dike is PCC. Are we to assume the dike will be placed on the PCC or is the dike to be placed on a narrow piece of HMA? Please clarify.

A8) Sheet C-1 shows 0.2' pad under AC dikes. 11Oct10.

Q9) Addendum 1 addresses the thickness of the Class II AB. It does not address the placement of the geo fabric. Does the State want it on the bottom of the CL II or the top, or do they want it wrapped around the entire section? Also there is not a spec section in the specials for the fabric. Does the State want a geosynthetic pavement fabric or a filter fabric?

A9) Sheet X-2 shows -- geosynthetic interlayer above Cl2 Aggregate Base (AB), which means we place the interlayer above the 2' Cl2 AB. 11Oct10.

Q10) Per the addendum for Freezing Condition Requirements, does this also apply to the Rapid Set Concrete specified for this project?
