Q1) Are there currently cross sections available for state route 145 at this time?

A1) Cross sections are available for inspection in accordance with the provisions in Section 51.11, "Supplemental Project Information" at the District Office at 2015 E. Shields Avenue, Suite 100, Fresno, CA 93726, ask for Ernie Penuna (559-230-3142) or Rotimi Adebayo (559-243-3803).

Q2) How can we obtain cross sections for this project?

Q3) Sheet 116 in the summary of qtys of K-Railing, the starting & stopping stations do not match the stationing on the traffic handling plans, shees 114 & 115. Please clarify which is correct.

A3) Contractor should bid the item as you see it and if there are any adjustments in quantity please see Standard Specification section 4-1.03B.


Q4) Per summary of qtys sheet 143, replace A.C. surfacing, stationing conflicts with the cross sections. Areas that are showing replace A.C. surfacing are also showing these areas to be replaced with A.B./A.C. Which one will govern?

A4) The Contractor shall bid the item replace ac surfacing as shown on the summary of quantities sheet and adjustments in quantity shall be in conformance with Section 4-1.03B of the Standard Specification.


Q5) Per Standard Specifications 19-5.03 Relative Compaction, paragraph 2 says that relative compaction of not less than 95% shall be obtained for a minimum depth of .80-m below finished grade for the width of the travel way plus 1 meter on each size thereof.... Is this going to be the requirement in the replace a.c. surfacing areas?

A5) Replace AC surfacing shall be in conformance with the provisions in Section 19-5.03, "Relative Compaction (95 Percent)," of the Standard Specifications.


Q6) Are the construction notes on the staging plans in chronological order?

A6) The construction notes shown on the construction staging plans are not in chronological order.


Q7) Stage 3 construction note #5 calls for replacing HMA surfacing after the shoulders are to be constructed. Is it the intent of the State to schedule this work in this order or can the replacing of a.c. be done prior to the reconstructing of the shoulders.

A7) The Contractor has the option to replace the AC prior to reconstructing the shoulders in conformance with the provisions in Section 10-1.18, "Maintaining Traffic," of the special provisions.


Q8) Under which bid item does the excavation of dirt for the installation of rip rap under the bridge crossing get paid for. Since there is 1,020 m3 of rock slope protection to be installed, then there will be this much material to be excavated and there is no quantities reflecting this amount.

A8) Excavation for the placement of rock slope protection shall be paid for in conformance with Section 72-2.05 "Payment," of the Standard Specifications.


Q9) Under which stage does the final lift of paving get installed?

A9) The final lift of the paving shall be completed in Stage 4.


Q10) Cottonwood creek what are the provision with handling the water in the flowing creek ?

A10) Please refer to addendum #2, dated 5/15/2009.


Q11) The UDBE goal for this project is 4%. This Project is a A + B contract, the "A" being the Base Bid total (all contract items) and the "B" being the Liquidated Damages per contract Days Bid. Is the 4% UDBE goal based on the Base Bid Total? or the "A" + "B" Total?
I'm thinking the Goal would be based on the "A" Base Bid Total.

A11) The UDBE goal will be evaluated against the A bid, not the A+B bid.
