Q1) The typical road approach detail for Route 43 & 63 shows a conform at the side streets but the cold plane quantities do not include any conforms. Will the conforms be paid as cold plane? Do you have a quantity for the conforms?
A1) Yes, the conforms will be paid under the cold plane item. The quantity for the conforms may be calculated from the contract documents. 7Apr11.
Q2) Since the RHMA is only .08' thick the Contractor has no opportunity to correct any existing conditions that do not meet the smoothness specifications. Furthermore, the bid documents do not have any data that the contractor could use to determine the amount of grinding neccessary to correct the existing road prior to placing RHMA. HOW DO WE BID SOMETHING THAT WE CANNOT QUANTIFY?

Q3) Per the project special provisions the Rubberized HMA (Gap Graded) aggregates shall be 3/8", However Caltrans doesn't have a mix specification for a Rubberized HMA(Gap Graded) 3/8". Caltrans only has 1/2" and 3/4" Gap Graded mix specifications for RHMA (Gap Graded). Can we get a mix design for this material so we know how to price it out.
