Contract 06-0J2904

The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. In some instances, the question and answer may represent a summary of the matters discussed rather than a word-for-word recitation. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q1) The contractor can't produce the calculations determining the proposed CIPP liner thickness at each location unless we have the line segment depths available to us for thickness design purposes. Michels requests that Caltrans provide these depths on every line segment so the contractor can bid the project properly.

A1) Please refer to Addendum #1 dated December 16, 2008.

Q2) It appears there may be a section of the specifications missing starting on page 47. After the 3rd paragraph of the Section titled "Remove Concrete", the specification seems to make an abrupt jump to traffic signs. The "Remove Concrete" section seems to be incomplete, and the fourth paragraph of that section, beginning with "Signs shall be fabricated and furnished..." seems like it should belong in another section with more lead-in. Additionally, the section numbers skip from 10-1.12 to 10-1.14, with no reference to 10-1.13, even to say it was not used. It appears that a block of text may have been inadvertently deleted from this area prior to the specification being published and the Table of Contents being compiled. Please advise.

A2) Please refer to addendum #2 dated December 29, 2008.
