Q1) Per the Special Provisions Section Cold Plane Asphalt Concrete Pavement, page 40, "Hot Mix Asphalt shall be placed over cold planed areas on the same day as the cold plane operations before the area is opened to traffic". If the contractor cold planes both adjacent lanes each shift, so there were no longitudinal edges, will Caltrans allow Hot Mix Asphalt to be placed over cold planed areas before the weekend or within 7 days instead?

A1) Please refer to Addendum #1 dated Jan16, 2009.

Q2) Per the Special Provisions Section: Cold Plane Asphalt Concrete Pavement, page 40, "Hot Mix Asphalt Shall be placed over cold planed areas on the same day as the cold plane operations before the area is opened to traffic". Does the Hot Mix Asphalt (Open Graded) also have to be placed over cold planed areas on the same day as the cold plane operations before the area is opened to traffic?
