The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. In some instances, the question and answer may represent a summary of the matters discussed rather than a word-for-word recitation. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.
Q) The northern end of this project from La Fonda to Emeline is under construction per Caltrans contract #05-129104. K-rail on that project prevents work in that section of the road (approximately 1.4 miles). Do the bid quantities for this work need to be reduced by 20% or will the completion date for this project be extended to correlate with being completed on the other project?
A) The only work between La Fonda and Emeline is to fog seal the existing AC Dike. This work will have to be coordinated with the contractor on Contract #05-129104. Therefore, the quantities will not be reduced and the completion date will not be extended.
Q) There is a conflict in the bid package between quantity sheet (Q-1) and the special provisions on whether or not repairing failed areas will be paid as a contract item or extra work.
A) The quantities which are shown on quantity sheet (Q-1) will be paid as contract item work per Construction Detail 2 on sheet 4, for both the cold plane quantity and the asphalt concrete quantity.
