The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. Q) The Plans show a typical cross section that details excavation for the structural sections and a minor amount of embankment for shoulder backing. The Q sheet 54 of 66 list a total excavation quantity and an import quantity. There is not a quantity for embankment. The typical cross section does not show very much embankment. With cross sections not available there is no way to check quantities. Is there a surplus of excavation on this project.
A) Yes, there will be surplus excavated material.
Q) Are all of the components of the chain link fence for this item to be vinyl clad or just the fabric?
A) The fabric should only be vinyl-clad.
Q) On "A" line do we have to remove and compact the existing shoulder in accordance with paragraph 1 or 2 of Standard Specification 19-5.03 "Relative Compaction"?
A) Yes
Q) Are the quantities for "A" line correct?
A) The total quantity for contract item number
36 is 6510 tonn.
A) The Engineers Quantity for Item 36 AC (Type
B) is correct. There is an error on the Typical Cross Sections X-1 for
inside mainline shoulder which should be shown as 90 mm not 60mm AC (Type
B).
Q) Are we going to be required to use a rubber tired roller?
A) Yes
Q) Do we have to overexcavate and recompact to 95% .8-m below finish grade 1-m outside ETW?
A) No, but per Section 19-5.03, "Relative Compaction (95 Percent)," of the Standard Specifications paragraph 1 "relative compaction not less than 95 percent shall be obtained for a minimum depth of 0.2-m below the grading plane for the width between the outer edges of shoulders, whether in excavation or embankment".
Q) Will the truckers hauling the class II base and asphalt concrete have to be paid prevailing wage?
A) Yes
