Q1) How do I obtain a copy of the Information Handout and the various permits?

A1) The Information Handout, which includes copies of permits, is now available as specified in the amended Standard Specifications Section 2-1.03B, "Supplemental Project Information": "If an Information Handout is available, you may view it at:" 8Sep10.

Q2) Has Caltrans made arrangements with PG&E to de-energize the power lines during pile driving operations for Stage 1 construction? Are there any costs to the Contractor associated with PG&E de-energizing the power lines?

A2) There are no plans to de-energize the overhead power lines during Construction. 27Sep10.

Q3) How do I obtain copies of cross sections?

A3) Copies of cross sections can be purchased from Stockton Blue Reprographics, Phone (209) 464-8724. 8Sep10.

Q4) At the moment the overhead utilities are too close to the pile driving operations(OSHA). Even afer the new alignment (2 new utility poles). The lines are only 4-5 feet away from the first pile to be driven. We need the pile to be at least 15' away from existing alignment.

A4) Refer to Section 10-1.29 PILING: "Difficult pile installation is anticipated due to the presence of caving soils, high ground water, underground utilities and overhead utilities." If a change becomes necessary, it will be handled by proposed Contract Change Order. 27Sep10.


A5) No, portable traffic signals are not acceptable for this project. Please submit a bid in conformance with the details shown on the contract plans. Solar flashing beacons may be acceptable if the all other specifications are met and continuous operation can be guaranteed. Refer to Section 86-1.04 "EQUIPMENT LIST AND DRAWINGS" of the amended Standard Specifications. 27Sep10.

Q6) Are there any specifications for the imported borrow? (i.e. R value, PI, etc..)
