Q1) Is the Sand Equivalent for Shoulder Backing a minimum of 10-35 or can it exceed 35?

A1) Please refer to Section 10-1.14 "Shoulder Backing" of the Special Provisions. The Sand Equivalent requirement for shoulder backing: 1. With any combination of natural and reclaimed pavement structure (AC, PCC, LCB, CTB) is 10-35 (Para 3) 2. With any combination of natural materials is 10-30 (Para 5) 3. With 100% reclaimed AC is 10 minimum (Para 3). 12Mar11.
