Q1) Can HMA Typa A be used at interstions instead of RHMA-G? Project 10-0U8704 used HMA at the intetstions per the plans.
A1) Gap graded RHMA has been used at public road intersections on overlay projects in the past. The Contractor may submit a request to substitute HMA Type A at these locations, for consideration by the Engineer. If the change is approved, it would be handled by Contract Change Order. Please submit your bid based on the work as shown on the plans and for the work item quantities as shown in the Bid Item List. 15Feb11.
Q2) The General permit has risk levels for projects. What risk level is this project 1, 2, or 3?
A2) The new Construction General Permit doesn't apply to projects with less than one acre of soil disturbance. Therefore, this project is exempt. 16Feb11.
