Q1) The contract timed does not appear sufficient to allow for the work to be performed as specified.
We believe that it will take approximately 19 weeks for procurement and installation of the Joint seal assemblies (field verification, shop drawing preparation, review, approval, fabrication, shipment, installation). This total 95 working days (133 cal days) and does not provide any time for mailing, resubmission, or other contingencies. Even with diligent prosecution of the work immediately upon contract approval, the contract time is not sufficient for this one operation. The contract time should be extended to at least 120 working days or possibly longer.
A1) Please refer to Addendum No. 1, dated March 30, 2011. 4Apr11.
Q2) The engineer's estimate for item 17(F)Structural concrete bridge, does not appear to be sufficient for the work described on the plans. This is a final pay item. Based on an initial review of the concrete quantities shown as required for 538' of MR 4" joint seal assembly and 935' of MR 9" joint seal assembly, the actual required amount of concrete is approximately 103 CY versus the 53 CY that is listed for this item, please advise.
