Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q1) How much is the actual Liquidated Damages? Is it $950.00 or $1,900.00?

A1) Refer to Section 8-1.07, "Liquidated Damages," of the Amendments to the Standard Specifications. Since plant establishment does not apply to this contract, liquidated damages are $1,900 per day.


Q2) What is "plant establishment"?

A2) Plant establishment work consists of caring for highway planting. No planting or plant establishment work is specified for this contract.


Q3) Do we do our own DBVE search, or do you have a list we go off of?

A3) Refer to Section 1-6, "Web Sites, Addresses, and Telephone Numbers," of the Amendments to the Standard Specifications, which provides contact information for the Office of Small Business and DVBE Services. Their web site does provide a search tool.


Q4) Sheet EE-2 shows 4 roofs for the installation of a 12.5 kW system and 5 kW system. 17.5 kW of solar would fit on 1 one of these roofs. Are we to select the best roof/roofs available on which to install this system?

A4) Refer also to Single Line Diagram plan sheets EE-3 (Sheet 4 of the plans) designated for Bldg #4 & #6, and EE-4 (Sheet 5 of the plans) designated for Bldg #3 and #7. Buildings #4 and #6 have a 12.5 kW system, Building #3 has a 5 kW system and Building #7 has two 5 kW systems. 29Jun10.


Q5) Is this project going to bid as scheduled on Sept. 1 or become another casualty of the state budget process and have the bid date postponed indefinitely?

A5) Bids for this work will be opened Wednesday, September 1, 2010. 26Aug10.The bid opening for this project will be postponed indefinitely via addendum dated Aug 26, 2010. Bids for this work will be opened Tuesday, October 19, 2010 per addendum No. 3 dated Sept 22, 2010. 23Sep10.


Q6) What is the solar system size in watts in AC. The project site list 13kW AC and the drawings show 35kW AC?

A6) Please refer to Addendum No. 1 dated August 25, 2010 for revisions to the plans. 26Aug10.


Q7)on plans ee2 there are 5 PV system on seperate buildings that total >30kw.I Power our designer/engineer and rep. to our solar supplier has has the design requirements, can we still bid this project? Our Company just finished the Westley Rest Area Project for Cal Trans 10-0AA034

PV Installer Qualifications:

The PV installer shall be a registered installer listed on the CSI database found at the following website:

http://www.gosolarcalifornia.ca.gov/retailers/search-new.php

The PV installer shall have experience in designing and installing at least one commercial PV system of 30kW or greater. A bidder that does not meet these qualifications may be required to subcontract that portion of the work. 18Oct10.
