The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. In some instances, the question and answer may represent a summary of the matters discussed rather than a word-for-word recitation. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q1) What is the duration of the contract?

A) Refer to Section 4, "Beginning of Work, Time of Completion," of the Special Provisions, which states that the work shall be diligently performed before the expiration of 250 Working Days. Your attention is also directed to "Measurement and Payment" of Section 10-2.03, "Extended Plant Establishment Work," regarding the lump sum amount to be paid for extended plan establishment work.


Q2) Some of the shrubs/trees in the project are dead. Should our bid include replacements or will that be handled separately?

A) Refer to Section 10-2.02, "Initial Site Work,"' of the Special Provisions, which states that initial site work shall consist of correcting existing irrigation deficiencies and existing plant deficiencies, and will be paid for as extra work. Your attention is also directed to Section 10-2.03, "Extended Plant Establishment Work, Planting," regarding replacement and planting of plants.


Q3) Referring to the plan sheets for Establish Existing Planting, what work is expected to be done in the open areas between the designated planting (i.e., pick up trash, mow, or leave it

A) These areas are to be included in the work as they are within the limits of the project. Please refer to Section 10-2.03, "Extended Plant Establishment Work," of the Special Provisions, regarding minimum requirements for mowing and litter control.


Q4) Regarding the Water Pollution Control Cost Break-down (page 122, 123 of the Special Provisions), can you be more specific on items you are requesting for plant establishment?

A) Please refer to "Cost Break-down" of Section 10-1.02, "Water Pollution Control," of the Special Provisions. Note that there are no project-specific minimum requirements designated for this project. Therefore, "the Contractor shall incorporate the items with Contractor-designated quantities and values into the Water Pollution Control Cost Break-down submitted with the Water Pollution Control Plan."
