Opening Celebration of the Tom Lantos Tunnels at Devil’s Slide
Caltrans, with State and Local officials and nearby communities celebrated the ribbon cutting for the first new highway tunnels in California in nearly 50 years and the longest tunnels in the state — the new Tom Lantos Tunnels at Devil’s Slide on State Route 1 in San Mateo County. The old 1.2-mile stretch of roadway will be converted into a non-motorized public facility offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

US. 101 Old Redwood Highway Groundbreaking
State and local officials celebrate the groundbreaking of the Old Redwood Highway Interchange Project. The project includes reconstructing the Highway 101 Interchange in Petaluma, including all ramps, upgrading Old Redwood Highway and Petaluma Boulevard North and providing sound walls. It also will include a bicycle path and pedestrian crosswalk in each direction.
The on-and off-ramps at the Old Redwood Highway Interchange will be widened from one lane to two and ramp metering will be installed.

Caltrans, State and Local officials celebrate the completion of the U.S. 101 auxiliary lane and pedestrian crossing in Menlo Park. The new auxiliary lane reduces travel time significantly. Caltrans District 4 - Benicia Bridge 50th Anniversary
Caltrans, State and local officials celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Benicia Martinez Bridge that spans the Carquinez Strait and connects Contra Costa and Solano Counties. Originally opened on September 16, 1962, traffic flowed in both directions of the span. In 2007 an additional bridge was placed into service providing more safety, efficiency and capacity.
