Full Weekend Closure Set for Highway 99 Exit in Chico

Crews Working on the Northbound Off-ramp to East Avenue

CHICO – Crews will close the northbound State Highway 99 exit to East Avenue this weekend to accommodate construction work on the ramp.

The off-ramp is scheduled to be closed starting at 9 p.m. Friday, September 29 and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, October 2. Northbound motorists will be directed to continue on Highway 99, take the next exit at Eaton Road and then head south on Highway 99 to the southbound East Avenue off-ramp.

Crews are scheduled to pave a new section of the ramp during the weekend. The work is part of a $1.2 million project to add a second left turn lane to the off-ramp, update curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards and replace the traffic signals. The project expects to be completed by Thanksgiving.

Unexpected events or weather may prolong or delay the roadwork. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
