Section of Roadway Damaged by Winter Storms
EL DORADO COUNTY – A full overnight closure of State Highway 193 outside of Placerville in El Dorado County is scheduled for Thursday night into early Friday morning.
The highway between Chili Bar and the junction with Highway 49 in Placerville will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday and reopen by 6 a.m. Friday. The closure is to accommodate heavy equipment pouring concrete as construction continues on a 300-foot retaining wall to stabilize the slope that gave away under the highway this past winter, taking part of the northbound lane with it.
During the full closure, the detour at the intersection of Highways 49 and 193 In Placerville will be Highway 49 north to Marshall Road to Garden Valley Road to 193 south.
The detour for the closure at Chili Bar on 193 will

Work on the $2.9 million emergency contract is expected to last through the end of August. After completion of the retaining wall, work will begin in July to rebuild the damaged section of highway.
Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.
