Officials will hold a news conference regarding the DARmageddon closure of Interstate 805 (I-805) on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 3 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug 19.

The closure will be between State Route 54 and State Route 905, so crews can demolish the East Palomar Street Bridge to make way for a new Direct Access Ramp (DAR). The DAR will offer a convenient way for carpoolers and transit to enter the Express Lanes currently under construction on I-805 and access the future East Palomar Street Transit Station and Park & Ride. During the closure, northbound and southbound traffic on the South Bay Expressway (SR 125) will be toll-free to motorists.

Wednesday, July 24, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Intersection of East Palomar Street and Nacion Avenue, immediately west of I-805 in Chula Vista (*attached please find a map of the news conference location.

Large display maps of I-805 closures with detour routes and project simulations. A countdown to “DARmageddon” clock will also be unveiled showing the days, hours, minutes and seconds to the closure of I-805.
