Bridge Named for Former Caltrans Project Manager

SAN DIEGO – The State Route 905 bridge over Spring Canyon will be dedicated in the memory of Caltrans Project Manager Randy Sanchez at a special ceremony this Friday.  The event will start at 10 a.m. at the Handler Mitigation Site on Otay Mesa Road, approximately four miles east of the I-905/I-805 interchange on Innovative Drive.

Mr. Sanchez is the former SR-905 Caltrans project manager who was fatality injured on his way to work September 2004.   Former State Senator and current United States Congressman Juan Vargas sponsored Senate Concurrent Resolution 93 that includes the naming of the bridge.

The dedication ceremony includes the unveiling the new signs.  Funds for the signs and installation were raised by private donations from family and friends and spearheaded by Flatiron West Inc.

Directions to the site: Go east on SR-905 and exit on Caliente and make a right and head north towards Otay Mesa Road.  Make a right on and travel east on Otay Mesa Road until Innovate Drive.
