Interstate 805 North Project Open House

SAN DIEGO – Caltrans and the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) will host an Open House on Thursday, Nov. 8 for residents, business and motorists to learn more about the Interstate 805 (I-805) North Project planned to start construction by the end of the year.

The open house will take place at the University Town Center - Forum Hall in the Community Meeting Room located at 4545 La Jolla Village Drive from 6 - 8 p.m. Representatives from Caltrans, SANDAG, the Metropolitan Transit System and Skanska Civil West will be on hand to answer the public's questions.

"This open house is a great opportunity for the local residents and businesses to learn more about this project and receive updates regarding lane closures and detour routes," said Project Manager Ron Caraet.

The I-805 North Project covers a distance of approximately four miles, from State Route 52 (SR-52) to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard in San Diego. This project, the first of five will widen the freeway to accommodate one carpool lane in each direction, or High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) and the south facing Direct Access Ramp at Carroll Canyon Road. Additional improvements include bridge widening as well as ramp and noise barrier modifications.

The project is part of a broader package of TransNet-funded improvements planned on I-805 that, once completed, will create a 28-mile Express Lanes facility in the median of I-805 between State Route 905 and Interstate 5. TransNet is the voter-approved half-cent sales tax for San Diego region transportation projects. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) administers TransNet, and is working in partnership with Caltrans to build the I-805 North Project.
