Scheduled Temporary Road Closure and Detours at Telegraph Canyon Road

SAN DIEGO – Telegraph Canyon Road will be closed to motorists in both directions at Interstate 805 (I-805) in Chula Vista on Oct. 28 – 31 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to accommodate work to widen the freeway bridge, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

DETOURS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Westbound Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road will be detoured onto northbound I-805 to East H Street and travel west to I-805 south and exit at East L Street/Telegraph Canyon Road and continue west.

Eastbound Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers traveling east on Telegraph Canyon Road will be detoured onto southbound I-805 to Olympic Parkway and travel east, take the I-805 north and exit at Telegraph Canyon Road and continue east.

Northbound Off-ramp to Westbound East L Street/Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers who wish to access westbound East L Street/Telegraph Canyon Road from northbound I-805 will be detoured to East H Street. Back to I-805 southbound and exit at East L Street/Telegraph Canyon Road and continue west.

Southbound Off-ramp to Eastbound Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers who wish to access eastbound Telegraph Canyon Road from southbound I-805 will be detoured to Olympic Parkway. Drivers will travel east on Olympic Parkway, take the I-805 north and exit at Telegraph Canyon Road and continue east.

Bridge improvements are part of the first phase of the I-805 South Project. Work includes building one carpool lane in each direction along an eight-mile segment of the freeway from East Palomar Street in Chula Vista to State Route 94 in San Diego. Work is scheduled for completion in fall 2013.
