Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Workshop This Friday
SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Small Business Outreach and Office of Business and Economic Opportunity will hold a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Certification Workshop this Friday from 9 a.m. until noon. The workshop will take place at the Caltrans District Office located at 4050 Taylor Street in Old Town San Diego.
Attendees will learn about the qualifications for DBE certification and how businesses can benefit by being certified. Business owners may register for the workshop by contacting Caltrans Small Business Liaison Michelle Gongora at (619) 688-3151 or by e-mail to michelle.gongora@dot.ca.gov.
A DBE is a for-profit small business concern that is at least 51 percent owned by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged. In the case of a corporation, 51 percent of the stock is owned by one or more such individuals and management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more of the socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who own it.
Caltrans strives to open up a range of opportunities for certified small businesses and disadvantaged business enterprises to successfully compete for Caltrans contracts and procurements.
