Temporary Lane Closures and Detours Scheduled at Telegraph Canyon Road

SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close westbound Telegraph Canyon Road at Interstate805 (I-805) and the northbound off-ramp from I-805 to westbound L Street. The closures will take place this Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate widening the freeway bridge.

Drivers traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road will be detoured onto northbound I-805. Drivers will then exit at East H Street and travel west, take I-805 south and exit at L Street and continue west.

Drivers who wish to access westbound L Street from northbound I-805 will be detoured to East H Street. Drivers will then travel west on East H Street and enter I-805 south, then exit at L Street and continue west.

Bridge improvements are part of the first phase construction of the I-805 South Project. Work includes building one lane in each direction along an eight-mile segment of the freeway stretching from East Palomar Street in Chula Vista to State Route 94 in San Diego. The carpool lanes are scheduled to open in fall 2013.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and safely move over a lane when Caltrans or other emergency vehicles are displaying flashing amber lights. It's the law!
